Increase performance

So I just got a 24 Kia Forte GT (DCT). To start off I love this car. I commute to work but also drive with the family. I want to increase performance but don’t want it any louder necessarily than it is. I just put on the MBRP axle back and was curious about mid pipes and down pipes. I live in California and do have to deal with smog compliance. Thanks!

Those items will increase sound. If you want more performance, I recommend starting with a piggyback tune (easier to remove than a downpipe) like a RaceChip or DTE. You probably don't want to get any louder, especially if you're near the bay area or Riverside county.

If you do preventative maintenance on time i.e. oil changes, air filter etc, there shouldn't be any abnormal wear. It can affect warranty if you leave it on for the technician to see. It won't show up if they scan the ECU. Install is only 2 connections, MAP sensor on the intake manifold and pressure sensor on the intercooler pipe underneath the air box.

The piggyback tune boxes like RaceChip and DTE intercepts the boost signal before the ecu can receive it and it raises the boost pressure depending on settings. I've had mine for over 50k miles without any problems. My car still runs like new after over 4 years.

If you're considering getting one of these, get it straight from the manufacturer. They come from Germany and they ship very quickly.

It has an ECO setting and I have not experienced any difference with MPG. It really is dependent on your right foot. I have gotten (based on the MPG meter) with full settings(#7) on the RaceChip and achieved around 42 MPG while keeping it around 75mph. Not so much when I'm having fun (33-35mpg). This is city driving. RaceChip is what I went with. I recommend the GTS for when you want to have a little more fun on Cali freeways and trips to Vegas. The S model works as well(i have an S installed in my Seltos).

I got a 2 hour commute too, Forte definitely helps pass the time. If you are looking for an obvious bump in performance jump to a piggyback now and get it over with. Add stuff later if you want.
Racechip GTS is my vote. And like @Hamster-GT said just get it directly from them.

I am on team Racechip S for only $203 plus shipping. You can use discount code rbr15 to get the discount. You can run map5 with stock plugs and in some areas of country 87 octane is fine as well. I never saw any gains personally from the GTS over the S when I had them both. Easily the best $200 you can ever spend on this car. Only problem it creates is the need for better tires.

The limitation is the turbo. 6 psi over stock is all it can provide before it's just blowing hot air(out of efficiency range). This is the better, if not best engine coming from Hyundai Kia as far as reliability. It will be fine.

I put 91 in it anyways. The gas mileage is pretty good as is. So I guess the added boost would be great. No need to strengthen any internal parts for any added force the tube is possibly applying?
If you are in California I suggest the highest grade you can find. We get yak piss here at least buy the best you can find.
with Racechip you will lack traction and you should beef up your lower engine mount.Other than that you can leave it alone if you wish. As with any modifications there is an assumed risk even if unlikely. None of us have heard any Racechip horror stories other than lies.

I vote for the Racechip GTS, as well.
It was the best money I spent on the car. Totally changes the personality. And it's such an easy setup. I have no mechanical skills at all, and thanks to this forum I was able to install it easily.

Without any more info than you've already given, here is my list in order of what will give the biggest returns overall.

Lightweight wheels and sticky tires
Racechip s
Pedal/throttle tuner
High flow drop in air filter

If you do all of those that will address all of the lowwst hanging fruit, you'll get a bit better mpg (potentially), better handling, and acceleration will have a huge improvement.
The pedal tuner is mostly just for feel. It probably won't make you any faster but you will feel faster.

I would be close to that suggestion

Lightweight wheels (17") and sticky tires (235/45/17)
Racechip s
Powerflex yellow lower torque strut inserts (purple if you don't mind minor vibration)
Evilla midpipe

I agree with everything posted above but no pedal/throttle tuner. But that’s just a preference.

Everyone has their own twist when it comes to recommendations. What seems to be the foundation is the RaceChip and lightweight wheels. Wheel and tire combo helps in many ways like quicker acceleration, better braking, better handling, higher threshold of grip and better steering feel. Wheels 20 lbs and under is what I recommend.

Engine mods I recommend:
1. The RaceChip!
2. Powerflex lower engine mount bushing inserts.
3. Boomba Racing intake manifold & throttle body spacers.
4. NST water pump pulley.
5. Green Air Filter 7367.
6. Velossa Tech intake scoop.

Wheels and tires:
1. Wheels 20 lbs and lighter (your preference in style).
2. Continental ExtemeContact DWS06 or Pirelli PZero A/S 3 since each commute takes 2 hours. They have good grip and they are not noisy.

Wait now sir.... you already stand behind the water pump pulley?
Damnit.

Not much sound increase with the stock intake, even with a performance air fitler. It's louder with an aftermarket intake kit like the popular AFE Power intakes. The power is more noticable when your on the freeway. It's not mind blowing, just noticable. It's a good mod after a tune or adding a piggyback.

Suspension and brakes, better tires. Lots of fun stuff you can do.

2023 GT 6spd was traded for a Forte LXS, 6spd had no traction with Racechip until 50mph, rpm at 80mph was around 3400rpm, and ride was too harsh. LXS rides and drives (ivt transmission) with far more refinement, which is what I want these days.

2021 GT dct was very good but in the end the dct was just not a refined enough transmission for us. The constant head movement from on off throttle just got to be too annoying, ride was borderline with the 235/45/17 at 30psi but still stiff. The 5.4s 0-60 was always fun and the GFB bov and Evilla midpipe still created grins right up to the end. Handling was excellent and no complaints. I do feel the LXS with the Evilla rear sway bar is a bit more fun and confidence inspiring than the GT, might have something to do with the IRS vs beam axle. This was traded for the 25 Sorento, she really liked her GT but she loves her Sorento.

The 3rd 23 GT we had was the daughters boyfriend, he swapped it for a 2018 Audi S4. He simply wanted more power, sub 5 second 0-60 is making him happy. He is hoping it stays in one piece for a few years. Plus his 23 GT with Racechip GTS never matched our 21 GT with Racechip S in acceleration. It was always 3 tenths slower in 0-60 and 1/4 mile. We were impressed with how well his 23 GT rode with Eibach springs and some Nitto NT555 G2 tires.
