So I would buy OEM middle pipe... since we ara talking about it here.

Why the OP wants the downpipe?
Maybe to keep the OEM look, but be catless... yet still have the ability to go back to OEM.
And I would assume getting the OEM used pipe would be still cheaper than going aftermarket.

I am just looking for a cheap non-cat replacement rather than going aftermarket. Thought I would throw it out there in case someone had an extra laying around.

i was wondering if a CEL would be triggered doing this with stock DP and are there ways around it?
some of my reservations with getting aftermarket DP is with the CEL issues.

Same way as in aftermarket catless design.
CEL will be on due to lack of catalytic converter and only tune would take care of it or maybe some kind of trick with resistor... I don't know, honestly.

when i read about it on the countless threads at VT it almost seems hit and miss.
some have the light coming on randomly and some have it on all the time.
there are some fixes but even they complain every so often.
it seems very ideal to do the DP and tune around the same time.
