I've heard horror stories about aftermarket sunroofs leaking and breaking because it isn't factory installed from the manufacturer so seams aren't as tight. Been searching a while and the name Webasto seems to be leading the charge as far as reputation.

Has anyone ever done aftermarket installs before and what are your impression?

I have the base SX without tech so no HID, Sunroof, Nav, etc. These are easily correctible but the one thing I always wanted was a sunroof unfortunately it wasn't available on a manual so sacrifices were made.

I'm thinking of doing it. Not too worried about leaks since I presume it isn't that hard to reseal it again; is my assumption correct?

I work for a dealership and we put in aftermarket sunroofs all the time. Webasto is one of the brands that our dealership uses and it comes with a 3 year warranty. Just make sure you go with a reputable shop because its not the sunroofs that will cause the leak, it is the installation.

Cool, thanks for replying. Do you know if Sunroofs are desirable as a feature when selling a car or a detractor especially this being a case of aftermarket installation rather than OEM. I don't foresee trading in my car but that's what I said about my last car, lol.

Could you also give me an opinion on which presents more of a risk to leakage; the Hollandia 700 which goes inside the roof and head liner vs the 300 which is a glass tilted outside of the car? Right now I'm leaning towards the 300 only because it takes less time to install than the 700.

Thanks

Adding a sunroof will def add a little bit more value as well as desirability to your car for sure!

Looking at the differences between the 2, the Hollandia 700 def looks more like a factory sunroof, but the 300 is pretty cool not going to lie! I think whichever you go with it really will depend on how you pay to put it in. I dont think one will be more prone to leaking than the other.
