So the salesman who sold me my SX5, my brother lol, said Kia recommends the use of a Upper Cylinder Lube on the GDI engines.

Knowing the carbon build-up issues associated with GDI vs. MPI engines, does anyone have a recommended UCL they use?

My first thought was Lucas UCL, but I didn't know if someone had tried something better. I do know, I am not using anything with solvents.

I have seen some install catch cans, but as this car is a lease, though I will probably purchase it, I do not want to install a catch can.

Thanks

I have not heard of having to use any upper cylinder lube on this motor at all. Just use good oil and you can still install a catch can since it is super simple to take off at the end of your lease. I use Lucas fuel treatment in my tanks and I also did the CERMA treatment on my engine and turbo. Seems to run smoother and the turbo boosts faster and harder. I know Max told me to use the Chevron Techron also

My car only has 400 miles on it, so I am not too concerned right now; just trying to get ahead of the game.

My mom's 2014 Sportage, about 16,000, has the loudest rockers I have heard on a new car. I may try some Lucas on hers also to what it does.
