I post on the forteforums. I decided to sign up here and lurk for a bit. I'm planning to add a '16 5 door SX next to our 2012. Former Jersey guy living in the Dallas/Ft Worth area.

Welcome to the site!
You won't regret upgrading. I upgraded from a 2010 Forte Sedan.

While I was impressed with the build quality of the 2010, this generation blows the first gen out of the water! Everything thing from interior, exterior and the powertrain. I am very impressed with this car since the trade.

Hopefully it works out for you! The added power from the turbo should have been done since the Forte came out in 2010.
welcome aboard
Welcome to the site from a current Jersey guy! Would love to get out to the dirty south! Texas economy is booming! Just have to convince the fiance!

Nice to see someone else for the DFW area I thought I was all alone on the forum, although I have seen another bright silver and a black Koup in my area

Mikey. The economy is what brought us here eight years ago - besides the long-time desire to GTFO Jersey lol. I just couldn't take the attitude, cost of living ,etc any longer. While I miss being 20 min from NYC, 30 minutes from the mountains and 60 minutes from the beach, the other factors outweigh them. I've been back to visit twice. The last one was just the nail in the coffin on never wanting to move back. In most aspects, Texas is like any other place. They all have their good and bad. It's just which are you willing to tolerate. I'll take 100+ degree days, shorter winters and a lower cost of living lol.

Ochee, its rare to even see another 5 door no matter the year. We got this one in December 2012 and I can probably still use one hand to count how many other 5 doors I've seen no matter the model year. When I do see one, I find myself saying out loud: "Oh, there's the OTHER 5 door." Lol.
Honestly I went back and forth on which car I want to park next to the 12.
First choice -
Mazda 3 5-door. Love the looks. Love the Almond leather option. HATE, ABSOLUTELY HATE the Ipod-tacked-to-the-top-of-the-dash premium sound/nav screen and the pop-up heads-up display screen. related is the Audi MMI-style controls - NEXT TO THE CUPHOLDER. As a former service advisor, I know from experience that no matter how careful over the life of the car, something WILL get spilled in them. So the 3 is out.

GTI - I've owned 4 VW's in my life. My first new car at 18 was an '85 GTI. I thought about a 5 door. I like the looks. It drives nicer and the interior is more touchy-feely. Negatives: To equip a non-performance pack 5 door GTI like a 5 door SX is nearly $33,000 and VW dealers are less likely to make great deals. Add to that $1500+ for an extended warranty to equal Kia's standard warranty. Service and reliability. Oil consumption, FSI issues, etc. Also, I have nerve damage below the knees from cancer and chemotherapy so my manual transmission days are over, meaning it would be a DSG trans. I wouldn't look forward to the required every 40,000 mile trans service at approximately $450 a pop.

SX 5 door - Like the looks. Don't see many around. A lot of car for the money. Warranty. reliability - if our 2012 as well as our previous 2008 Sonata are any indication. 66,000 miles on our 12. Routine services, a set of tires and a couple of bulbs. My only real dislike is the passenger seat not having the cooling option. So the GTI is quicker. As a long-time car guy, I live by the standard car guy saying: No matter how fast your car is, there's always one faster.

I passed a 5 door that looks like yours in Kansas City a couple of weeks ago on the interstate. But you are right, I haven't seen many forte5s around. I have only seen one other 5 SX in the metro. It's silver and the windows aren't tinted, so I suspect it's not owned by a car person.

Hey man leave us silver guys alone! I wanted white but there wasn't another sx 5 in the state soooooo silver it is.
What?

I wasn't picking on anyone. Just saying that the Forte5 SX I saw wasn't owned by a car person. My previous car was silver. I like silver cars, they stay clean longer.

When i went to buy my Forte5 SX, the only color choice i had was silver haha I def learned to love the color a lot. Silver def seems to hide the dents, dings and scratches a lot easier than the darker shades which i originally wanted.

Just busting your balls man lol I love the 5 in white. Totally jealous man
when i got mine, there was my blue one and a silver one. just before i got my car i read an article where the writer said that if you come across a car that is a different color, to get it, because the overall auto industry has become bland with whites, silvers, grays and blacks.

plus ive had 3 silver cars in the past, so it was time for a change lol

I had a choice between silver/grey and Racing Red with the 2 SX's near me, and I am almost 50 so Racing Red of course! :D
Congrats and welcome. Are they any changes for the 16 you were looking forward to?

Also, yes Texas is hot. And it's barely starting for this season. Horrible for turbos. but the lack of snow is awesome for fwd turbos. Enjoy and post pics when you get your new ride.

Keeping the '12 once the '16 is parked outside, so we just had to make a change or two. Added these Friday :)
Now I just need to figure out the fog light mod so I can run them with parking lights instead of just low beams and LED bulbs for the tail/brake/signals/reverse and plates.

Looks good man! Now order a turbo kit for the 12!
