Has anyone changed the speakers or made any mods to there head units? Built any customs boxes?

I added a single 12 in the trunk with a 500 watt amp. I used a line output converter on the rear drivers side speaker..This has been the hardest car I ever put a amp in..Finding a entry point on the firewall proved to be a challenge also. Ended up following the harness that supplies the fuse box and ran along next to it. But yeah it sounds great and it's not over powering bass with just 500 watts.
The salesman just went on and on about the Uvo and how awesome it was and the sound quality was just amazing. After having it, I now know that it is really just average. Considering doing away with the Uvo and putting in a custom screen that is more visually appealing. And definitely some different speakers, the sound quality is just bland and flat to me. Not sure I will add subs or not, I've had subs in everything I have ever owned. Thinking of just some good speakers and a amp on them. Think that will deliver good sound? This will be a first for me as far as powering the interior.
Totally agree man uvo is very over rated. In my case adding the sub with only 500 watts with the seats up and turning the treble almost all the way up made a big difference. If you changed all that stuff in theory it would sound better. But getting all the features working properly may be a challenge. For example xm, backup camera, etc. I was not up to that challenge lol.
How hard is it to get to the rear speakers? I've been wanting to do what you have done.
Its not hard its just a lot of steps.. first remove the bottom half of the rear seats there is two nuts hidden between the top and bottom half. Then pull off the plastic side panel.. when I did this I heard a few of the plastic clips fall down and get lost. I did not remove mine fully just pulled it back enough to wire it in..
another double din should just be plug n play as long as i get a sreen with all the wanted features.(which is all of them) From what i have been able to dig up on the speaker size, there 6.5's correct? JL i believe has some 6.5 subs. They would be nice for the back.
If you could be able to put subs in the existing holes that would be sick considering I cant even tell my car has rear speakers they are so badly placed and under powered. I always thought 6x9s in the rear windshield were the best for rear placement but may be hard for our cars to do that lol.
I think the rear deck is to small honestly. Someone could put some in if they really wanted to.
Does anyone know the color codes of the wires? I had no issues with the sorento and found the wires twisted under the door sills, I assume the koup is the same but just wanted to confirm wire colors as I will be installing my sub today or tomorrow. I'll keep searching but have not seen anything yet.
precrack- where did you end up running battery cable through the firewall, I have not looked at my Koup yet but I know the Sorento was very easy.
I followed the wire harness that goes to the fuse box. There is a rubber grommet that seals it and I just poked through,, As far as wire colors I can look it up for you if you really need it but I installed a line output converter on the back left speaker. I never needed to take anything off the dash to install my amp.
Coming from my Optima i had Infinity speakers and a stock 8 " sub. I replaced that with two 12"
Now with my forte i defnintaly miss the quality of sound i used to have. I love loud music and deep bass.
I have a full system sitting in my bedroom waiting to be installed

I have 2 12" powerbass subs ( best bang for you buck, and they hit hard trust me)
2 sets of 6 1/2 Focal speakers with a 4 channel amp to go along with them
1 set of Focal Tweeters
1 signal processor (needed to run with stock headunit

i wont be able to go long without a good system so i would say in the next two weeks i will do the install

Yes that will be solid!! People need to understand you cant just throw in a high quality set of speakers and think you good to go. Your still running off the stock amp. You NEED 4 channel amp to power them!!!
Being in the auto bizz for such a long time you tend to have a tleast one close friend or company that can provide you with discounts/bargain prices for certain things
I have my tint/sound guy, The welder/exhaust guy the list goes one. the list goes on!!

Its almost to easy my freind. Couple screws and a nice tug and bam, door panel is off. Then just 4 screws hold in the speaker

What wire colors do you need?? i can post up the diagram for you/and or just shout the colors out
Rear speakers on a 14 koup. I assume they are twisted in the door sills but have not looked yet. Going to run these to a line out converter then to my Jl audio 500/1 and kicker 10" l3. And if anyone knows a good spot for a remote amp turn on wire. That would be helpful.
Yeah i can look into it right now. also as far as the remote turn on wire it can be quite tricky especially with the accessory delay relay . With both of my optima's i had to use a test light at the IPM and find a wire that wasnt poweing r to much on the circuit and at least being powered by a 15amp fuse.
The left rear speaker is a yellow and a black. The right rear is a brown and a white. The only junction the wires have from the radio is located at both the drives and passengers side kick panel. From there you would have to follow the large harness that runs along the the sides of the car near the sills. I am trying to load a picture but i have to do few things to get by the security of Kias tech website so i can load the picture
The sorento was definitely easier. That rubber grommet where the main harness runs through the firewall appears to be plastic. Can't seem to poke a hole through it. Debating on drilling a hole through it but trying to find a easier way. And carefully taking the door sill off, I put a very tiny crack on the one end so not having much luck with it. I also found on forte forums I think they said color is yellow+, blue- and brown+, red -. But that was for a ex sedan I believe. Not sure why the colors would be different. Have not opened up harness yet to look at colors so I'll see what I can find. Was hoping to run the power wire first. Also does anyone else have input on why they found a remote wire. If not I guess I'll just test some wires....
the wire colors I posted is from the most current wiring schematic straight from my tech website for Kai dealers
