Shifting rpm?

I didn't know what to make this but.. Meh

For those who have the auto transmission. I have noticed when shifting in paddle mode that my 1-4 is good. You know higher rpm. Shift. Lower rpm. You know the basics. Now driving normally I have noticed that when I shift to 5th from 4th I notice that the rpms actually rise and not go down like usual. It's about like 500-700 rpm. And I'm no mechanic but I always thought higher gears the lower the rpm gets lol. Assuming we aren't racing

From what I have noticed with mine is if the rpms are under 3000 the ecu will fully unlock the converter when shifting into a higher gear at lower speeds.
Would that cause the rpm jump? If I drive normal I keep the rpm at about 2000-2500 but when I hit 5th say shifting at 2500 it'll jump to over 3000
Depends where your foot is on the throttle. If I am in 5th and just push it a little the rpms jump up to help get the car going. It's the converter engaging and disengaging
It's the same location. Not down any more not up anymore. I just found it strange. If it's because of the converter then I can see that

Shifting at 2500 rpm is the reason, 30 mph in 5th will unlock the converter and allow the engine to get to a rpm where it is less likely to self detonate from LSPI.
That makes sense! So basically it's a normal event and I'm actually using more gas by doing that! Ok now I know thanks!!
Mine won't let me shift to certain gears at low rpm. If I am in 2nd say st 2k rpm it won't shift to 3rd. From 4th to 5th it will only let me shift when it's closer to 3k rpms.

I wonder if that is something that is either in the tune or different for 2015. Mine can be manually shifted to 6th by 25 mph.

Might be the 2015. I can't get it to shift to 6th at that speed at all. Mine waits for a certain rpm then will let you shift it.
I've got a 14. It'll let me get to 6th at 35 if I wanted to.
I just tried going into 6th at 35 and it will but you don't feel a change in rpm or gearing till I hit about 45 then you feel the drop. But it will not go into 6th below 35

My A/T Koup is the same as @Forte5 (and I don't have an ECU tune like he does). When I drive in 'manual' mode the computer operates to lock out gear changes unless I am above a certain speed/rpm. I can't remember exactly what the speed/rpm levels are (and I can't test it at the moment because my baby is at the dealer's awaiting its new engine - see my post a few weeks back in the 'Performance' section), but I think its something like as follows:- 5th is locked out at anything below 50kmph and 6th is locked out at anything below 60-65kmph. My Koup was bought in July '14, but the manufacture date recorded under the bonnet is November '13.
