For aanyone interested Redline tuning now has hood lifts for the 2014+ Kia Forte. Get rid of the awkward hood prop now on the car.

I think if a guy were to try a few different sizes, you could find hood struts that work for our cars for a lot cheaper. Just trying to figure out how long we need and brackets and everything. Redline did all the hard work of finding that out but yeah any automotive parts store should have a selection of 50 plus different lengths of hood struts. I've thought about it already. Not sure if we need 2 struts either. If I recall, the sorento only has 1. Precrack, you work at Kia hey? Does any other models have hood struts? Maybe optima? Or sportage? I think the sorento probably to big for us but maybe another car will have something with brackets that would work on forte?

The new soul has dual struts on their higher up models.. and they will lift the hood up if you just pull up on it a few inches. Haven't noticed one on a forte or rio though.

Those are nice and a cheap upgrade for some added convenience. Do you know if there are any for the hatch? I wouldn't mind installing some automatic ones but you're probably looking at $500+.

Also is it aesthetics differences between the PLUS and Elite? I like the blacked out ones in the PLUS anyway. Might order these in the summer when I can actually work on the car.

Not a fan of them but also not a fan of the stock prop. Had too many fall and crack me in the head. My ram tried to eat me the other night

Here is a couple pics of them installed. Took about 15 minutes to install them.

Looks good, hood struts are very nice, I hate messing around with the hood prop sometimes.

Whats the diff between the standard and elite? Seems a bit pricey for hood supports

IIRC they are powdercoated, one could measure distance off points where it attaches and make there own kit, but it could be trial and error...

Hey Rick, what tools do you need to install this? I Like the luxury look it gives the car. Will these sag over time? Did you take out the manual prop?

Looks nice. Will be ordering myself a set when I get my car back.

You need basically a 14mm socket and ratchet, or you can use a straight 14mm wrench, couldn't be simpler a 15 minute job. They don't sag I had a set on my 2010 Mazda3 for 4 years and they worked just as good when I traded as when I first put them on.

Sites down for like a week and counting. Was going to check them out and contemplating clicking the buy button this week but then noticed the site offline. Is the company still operating or no?

the strut ball mount on the hood has to be drilled and secured with rivets right? and the bottom one just replaces a fender bolt?
