Hello everyone, Ive been on the forums for i would like to say around a month. just never registered. After seeing how well everyone is here and how helpful you guys all are I figured I should give the whole thing a shot.

I bought my SX koup about a month ago and I love the heck out of it. But like so many other people I have fallen for the need of more power and more speed. As this is my first actual car that i know hos more potential than what they gave it stock. I would just like to get there eventually Safely as i dont want to blow the engine or anything  So i guess my goal is to get a better performance and maybe take it out on the track and see what it can do and become more familiar with how the car acts in real driving settings and learn when to push it! In advance. Thank you guys for the help which you may provide and the help you guys have already helped me with! Looking forward to becoming a good member of the community and learning a lot on the way

Hello and welcome :)

Sounds like you are enjoying the car, it's pretty fun. First thing's first, you want to keep the temps down with this motor. It runs pretty hot. I'd recommend a 6th Element Cold Air Intake, that will help gain you power, lower temps, and a wicked sound. From there, it depends on your wants and needs,

1.CAI
2. Exhaust
3. Intercooler Resonator Delete
4. Hotpipe
5. Tune (This can be done whenever, but some bolt ons are recommended first)

Do these, and you'll blow the doors off a lot of people.

*I'd look into a FMIC and TB/TB cooler bypass if you are looking for a ton of power and want to keep from heatsoaking... the power drops HARD on stock tune's when heatsoak kicks in*

I'd recommend some suspension mods as our rear likes to act up. Evilla has you covered, rear torsion bar is recommended from the get go. All of our vendors and information can be found at the bottom of the forum. Cheers!!

Welcome!

Pretty much what Inno said but to ad a little:

Downpipe (cat or catless)
Gut second cat
FMIC
Meth injection

There is a bit you can do with the car but it is depending on your power goals. A tune will "wake up" the car big time. I would recommend with just a stage 1 from Tork to get at least a muffler delete and a intake on it

I would add a high pressure radiator cap to give a little extra insurance in a race environment.. and looking at break pads and rotors as well..
My goals are basically to have it compete well on the track but not a monster of a car. As this is my daily driver as well. That being said I'm still willing to take a risk to a point as we all do with modding our cars. I have never owned a car with potential like this one and I love having a rare breed vehicle and I love to know I can blow the doors off of other cars if I have to. I've heard the tork tune is about the best and highly recommended. Also after surfing I have found out that the temps are hot so anything to do with a cooler ride I'm down! All I need to do it start buying when I get paid.

First off, just let me say welcome to the Forums, and congrats on making a great purchase on your car. If you are looking for parts feel free to check out our website and see what we have to offer. I am currently in the process of adding more items to the website. So if there is anything you may have interest in and do not see on there, feel free to let me know and I will see what I can do. A tune is going to help you get the most out of your mods, as well as increase gas mileage. Select a Category | DamnFastDD.com
For the tune do you have actual MPG for real world application? I know it meant for 91-93 octane but all the mpg I can gain may balance out monthly cost. Also does any one know why kia even is running us off regulations fuel? I've looked into other turbo cats and they all used premium gas. Obviously we have a lot of hidden power under the hood of we want to get it we can. So why is it that kia dumbed us down to regular gas
This really isn't a "performance automobile" like the other that are tuned for premium fuels, we are more of just a spirited fun car to drive. I am sure if Kia had tuned the car like others have the reviews would have been much different when it was released. I still love how they insulted the car "It's almost a Hot Hatch but not quite" if they only knew lol
It is nice to be a rare car around here. I do agree that this is more of a spirited fun driving car and will take a pretty penny to get to high hp goals. Check out knee's build thread. He is going to the extreme and is getting tuned by Tork this weekend.

I do love that this car shocks so many people when it does fly by them.
I agree completely. I love when I see people checking out my car. I have gotten a good of carbon fiber broken k emblems on mine and have been asked what kind of car it is. I also live my race red color as I love black and red. I just would like to have a little more power behind the wheel. Perhaps after a few mods with the tune I'll love the car even more! I do however find myself looking at her every chance I get
Don't forget suspension to keep that power to the ground. I do have to say after driving this thing for a year and getting use to it squatting every time I jumped on it and now it sits flat and all the momentum is forwards it is like learning to drive a new car. I always considered the S2000 to be a nimble and agile car for cornering and was able to play with one and a FR-S at the same time on some S turns on some back roads and was right up their backsides. In a few more weeks I will know the new limits and will be up for some better competition than those two lol
Oh when you get a tune your going to be amazed on how much it wakes up our little 1.6. I love black and red but I already have a pearl black suv and red I didn't want because there are so many around here and cops love them. So I went with pearl white.
I'm the only red koup around where I am. There is a rust orange one but that's a 12. I see a lot of the first generation. But I have yet found another 14-15 sx version yet.
I never see another F5 or koup that is turbo. I see a lot of the base models though and have gotten thumbs up from them when they see me. Shoot I even have a group of subies that give me props lol
