Has anyone seen this before or know anything about it?
I know it probably not nearly as good as a tune but the ability to remove it before going to the dealer is a big plus for me.

K5 Optima Store - (NEW) LAP3 Uncle Chip Performance Tune

Also, yes it says "chip" I know a lot of people have hang ups on that because of the cheap resistor type chips on ebay. But that doesn't necessarily mean anything.
There was a time when cars were tuned via a chip. There was also a time when resistors and potentiometers could provide gains for those on a budget. Some companies just carry over that "chip" designation.

That being said. After watching how to adjust for octane levels it makes me wonder if underneath there's just a few potentiometers...

I believe KoreanUnicorn had that for a time. It should be on his build thread.

I wish I would've seen your link. I just read through his entire thread. Lol

That doesn't sound promising...
But like he said, maybe he got an optima one by mistake.
It does sound like just a few potentiometers. Not that that matters. But I wouldn't mind reading other reviews.

Getting a spare ecu doesn't sound cheap and junkyards aren't exactly filled with our cars yet.

I know what you mean. The idea of preserving the warranty is cool. Maybe one of the tuned guys can explain what the tork tune entails so you can compare them.

What would you like to know about the tune?

You can find used ecus popping up from time to time on the VT forums. Just make sure it has the same numbers on the ecu. Then once you get it you send them both to Tork and have him flash your stock file onto the new one and tune your other one. I have seen them for around $300 used.

Thanks for the offer but what it comes down to is I want to be able to revert to stock in no more than a few hours and at no point do I want to be without a drivable car for more than a few hours.

I'm sure the tunes Tork puts out are great. Probably our best bet by far.

Piggybacks just hold some appeal to me because I get some of the taste of tuning without compromising what my needs are above.

I've used homemade and store bought piggybacks in the past so I've got an ok understanding of what's happening there.

From what I've read it's about 50/50 results on uncle chips from a few pages of Google results. Unfortunately many are in korean...
But there's always a stigma with piggybacks so people who have no idea about them shoot them down and spread a lot of misinformation. But usually they're the cheaper option so the people with them don't log any real data so reviews are mainly speculation.

Korean unicorns review was good. I just wonder if they sent him the right model since I've read a decent amount of good reviews from the optima crowd.

If you had a extra ecu you can revert back within 10mins. Doesn't take long to swap ecus in our car. The handheld will be nice but we don't know any ETA on it.

It would be nice if there was a cheaper way to advance timing a few degrees and/or bump the boost up a tad.
Makes me wish I had a 90s car again. Lol
Patience my young apprentice. There will be a reliable place to spend your money in due time. Us Forte guys have to wait for all our goodies to come out.

Be happy that you have something unique to mod.

But back to performance stuff,
The turbosocks boost hack has pretty much been determined a no go right?
I've read through the veloster threads about it but they're so long it's hard to determine exactly what the outcome is.

Also I feel torn. I've got a jedi council sticker for my car. But it's black with tint in the future. And everyone says intakes make our cars sound like vader. Then the apprentice comment rather than padawan...
I've gotta say, I've never felt so much like Anakin before.
Lol it was totally meant in a Palpatine sort of way. My I.D. tags in the Army had my religion as Sith lol.

Choose wisely Dr. Jones!
