Here is the link that -X- has done extensive research on and posted tips on how to battle the LSPI events. The oil I recommended is one of the best ones to help against LSPI along with a few others

LSPI Risk Minimization Tips & Research

I used the Rotella T6 but after talking to a buddy that uses it in his VT and also does autocross he sent the oil out to be tested and found out under hard driving conditions such as track use it foams. If normal driving and getting on it once in a while it's perfectly fine but I do a lot of twisty roads so I switched

well under that link, rotella t6 is listed, so i think its still a good choice. i want to autocross, but im not sure if i'll ever get out there.... so my car is just set on daily driving and a little bit of tuning... i do need to get those 1 step colder plugs though

The rotella is fine unless you get into heavy twisty roads and autocross. I had it and loved it for normal daily but since I have been pushing my car harder and learning the twisties more I switched to the pennzoil because I don't want it to starve of oil from foaming. The price of the Rotella is killer but for a tad more for what I do I need the pennzoil.

I've been using mobil 1 extended performance
I was using mobil 1 for the first few oil changes because Costco has good deals on it at times. Then I found out that it can cause sludge in our GDI motor. Now this is just what I have read on the VT forum from what people have tried but I switched just in case it's true. I still use it in my SUV and love it. Never a issue in that motor and it still running like new and it has a Hypertech programmer on it lol

I was looking into Pennzoil Ultra Platinum but I can only find it is the 5w-30. I thought it was recommended we use 5w-40? The only Pennzoil i see in 5w-40 is the Platinum Euro? Any help?

As long as you stay between the 5w-30 and 5w-40 your good. They can't dent you for any warranty as long as your using at least what the oil cap says

It's a Euro mix bc a lot of European cars that have turbos use that oil. All the Audi 1.8ts.

The Mobil 1 Euro is what Nissan wants in the gtr.

There are certain specs you need to make sure that the oil meets. Gl4 i think was one of them. Gl5 is better for shearing like I'm manual transmissions, but it's corrosive to brass and such. My point being you need to look at what the recommended specs are and if the oil meets them.

For weight, you can look in the owners manual for weights. It's partially basedon climate and partially on driving habits etc

According to the owners manual our 1.6L should only be using a ACEA A5/B5 rated oil which is not easy to find in a 5W30 or 5W40 (Amsoil is one) Mobil 1, Royal Purple and many others are only A3/B4 rated. Rotella T6 doesn't even carry a ACEA rating. Even the synthetic blend oil the dealer uses doesn't have the correct rating that is recommended. Now the Total 9000 Full Synthetic 5W30 also has the A5/B5 rating but finding it locally is not readily available.
