today I floored my 2015 kia forte koup sx for the first time from a complete stop, i felt the front tires spin, i had my brother in the car with me and he said i just took 1000 miles of life off my tires , he said every time my tires peel out i am taking 1000 miles of life off of them, is that true ? also my 2015 kia forte koup sx is a 4 year 40,000 mile lease, will my stock nexen tires last the amount of time i have my car ? and how many miles will my tires be good for if i rotate my tires every 10,000 miles and don't abuse them ?

Does he have any data to back up an outrageous claim like that? That is one of the most general and vague statements I have ever heard.

I have done quite a few peel outs in my car, and I am at 23K miles and the tires will look great. I can post up pictures if you want. They have decent tread wear and I am surprised by them so far.

I don't know where my brother got that information from, so you have 23000 miles on your stock nexen tires ? how many times did you rotate them ? do you know how many miles these nexen tires are rated for ?

I would think you can go 40k if your not rough on them. Don't do a ton of burn outs and hard cornering. I have 15k on my tires and they still look new and I am pretty hard on them. I have done a autox day on them and several hard take offs and a lot of mountain driving. You can also look into the 6th lower mount or just replacing the stock bushings to help with wheel hop and traction.

Sounds like something we should ask the Mythbusters to look into They'd love sitting there creating a ton of smoke and seeing the ratio of reduction of tire tread with different lengths of time.

There are so many potholes in the DC metro area that I'd be surprised if my tires last 40k. I am just hitting 7K miles and have already had a pair of tires warrantied by Kia because of tire bubbles...
