Well. I still haven't touched my Forte5 in terms of modding and it's still the fastest cornering machine between me and my friends. From another thread you guys can guess, I like to haul tail any chance I get and I love taking corners at extreme speeds. So I took the Forte5 up to the Tail of the Dragon, a famous 318 curves in 11 miles road in eastern Tennessee.
Got up there, lots of slow harleys. I hate those now, but I didn't mind it on my first run as I just wanted to see the road, find out where the cops were, get the feel of it.
Finally got really pissed at the Harley guys but the road ended so I waited until I had a pretty substantial gap and got back on the road. This time at about half throttle. And oh man was I fast. Every corner was super quick, I was sliding all around coming out for the camera guys. Whipping the hatch back and forth. I did that for a few more runs. Stopped at a corner or two to get some cool GOPRO footage. I had it mounted to my dash the entire morning.
So after about 5 runs on this road, I get to the starting point again. Lots of people out at lunch so it's hard for a gap to be found. Finally get in behind this Camry ahead of me. I am hauling ass. Open throttle every corner, late breaking. (I'll link the vid later but I mean truly, I was chirping tires every corner). So the last few bends come around in the road and I blow by a camera guy for a cool shot and this blue car passes me. I scream out "It's a GTR!" to my dad. I immediately say, I'm gonna catch it.
Right after that corner, I whip it off the road, do a quick U turn and am on the chase. I am wide open. Slinging the rear end around before every turn, chirping the wheels, wide open after the apex. Looking for the royal blue booty of that Nissan God.
About 40 corners later, I see the four rings. He managed to get behind a slower car and I could catch up to him. The car pulls off, he floors it, so do it. He quickly out accelerates me, but he taps his breaks going into the corner, i wait until I'm right on him, slam on mine, rip the wheel into the corner, read end begins to slide, front wheels catch, I'm still on him.
I was so proud of my little hatch, I will have to do some suspension modding and make her a true Touge warrior. All in all, I am glad I chose the Tail of the Dragon as a senior road trip with my dad instead of going to the beach. True petrolheads dream to Touge race with a GTR, nose to tail.
