Hello from the other Vancouver in Washington state(we had the name first!).

Never thought I would see myself in a Kia having been around when they were notorious for just being cheap cars that fell apart. But, they have really stepped their game up. After a long decision process looking at the Mazda 3, VW Golf TSI, Mini Cooper, BRZ/FR-S, Veloster, Genesis Coupe, as well as some used options I ended up in a new 2015 Kia Forte5 SX manual for just shy of $18k with the typical mud guards, cargo tray/net, rear bumper applique, wheel locks, etc.

My first new car in quite some time so enjoying the new car smell. I had been buying lightly used cars. Prior cars being a VW GTI, Subaru Legacy GT Spec B, Celica GTS, Mazda6s, Acura RSX(first new car), Acura Legend, and my first car being a '88 Mazda 626 with the cool oscilating vents.

Yet another warm sunny day in the Pacific Northwest it was time for it's first bit of wax on/wax off.

By far my favorite "feature". I'm 6'7 but have tons of extra leg and head room in this car. In my wife's RAV4 my knee is pinned against the dash.

Though my wife's RAV4 does present a problem. It is the V6 model that would be a bit faster than the SX. Need to fix that with a tune sometime. :)

Welcome man and congrats! I was shocked how much room I have in the F5 and I am 6'3. I hit my head in the koup so that was a no go lol.

I feel ya on the wife's suv being faster. My wife's dodge journey 3.5 v6 would stomp me when it was stock. Now that I am tuned I run from that car. Now she does have a hypertech programmer now and haven't tried again but it made a huge difference and I am hoping I can still out run her lol

Thanks. I'm thinking first mods will be tint and the trunk brace. I'd like to find a gear knob too but apparently there isn't much selection for one that works with our reverse lockout? I'd prefer just a leather one.

So what's the story with Kia and tunes? Is it like VW where if you take it in and it gets scanned that puts a flag on your record that could hurt future warranty claims?

Yep pretty much. As of course kia will look for any way to void your warranty. But what most recommend is buying a spare ecu and having the tune on it so if you do take it in for a warranty claim you can just change the ecu and it's like they will never know

This is great to see someone local (somewhat) our offer for the tune stands. The lack of Forte's in the immediate area has posed an issue for development lately. Would love to meet you and get a chance to sit and talk about a good route to go for mods and whatnot, feel free to send me a PM or to check out our website Welcome | DamnFastDD.com and get some ideas on what you would like to do. Welcome to the forum, and congrats on your new ride
