just wondering if anyone has taken the plunge and got the veloster turbo intercooler upgrade from 845 or turbo socks yet?

the engine and turbo setup is the same.... the front bumper layout may be slightly different but should be close....

the only thing ive seen i do not like is on the turbosocks install pdf it says you have to snap the splash shield mounts off the front of the core support at the bottom....

im assuming this is because of the height of the intercooler... so i almost thought of going the universal route and getting an intercooler from turbokits.com their cooler is 6.25 in height where the turbosocks in 8inchs... so maybe that difference will make it to were it wont interfere with the splash shield

I am almost certain there will be significant mounting and front end differences between the FT and VT.
I'd also find the FMIC intercooler threads they have on the velosterturbo forum where they compare stock and FMIC air temperatures. I don't recall which kits they compared at the moment (845 Motorsports or Turbosocks) but the results were less than impressive.

In the next 30-60 days I will be researching and building a kit that will be specific to our Fortes. I will post more as it is developed.

That Forge valve you linked may be short enough (would have to measure it), and I know for sure Tial is too tall. I would like to make my on BOV too eventually.

i agree when i saw their numbers, i was expecting more like 20+ for gains... but i think they are in the 10+ range iirc...

shows that the current system is pretty efficient for the most part... probably because the intercooler is actually up front versus other cars like the mazdaspeed 3 where its on top of the motor...

its also quite interesting when searching on ebay there is an overseas company that already has a downpipe and full exhaust for the turbo koup... which makes me wonder where that R&D came from and if they have that done then maybe there is R&D on other parts

I emailed turbosocks about the VT inter-cooler fitting our cars about a month ago. They said they were not sure since they have not had any R&D but they did not recommend I try. I don't see why you couldn't fab up your own universal kit. There's really not a lot involved with that set up.
