Hey Everyone,
A couple of weeks ago we raced our Forte Turbo Koup and Kia B-Spec Rio at Round 3 of the 2015 Veloster Challenge where we went up against over 10 Hyundai Velosters and took Podium with both our Cars. This is the second time the Kia Forte has competed in the Veloster Challenge. The First time, fellow member Forte 5 enrolled his Forte 5 and placed well at the track and was fitted with our Torsion Bar.
This time we enrolled the Evilla Motorsports Forte Turbo and did very well against the Velosters. The only modifications done were our Strut Bar, Torsion Bar and Bottom Chassis Brace for optimum handling. The Tires, Brakes, and rest of the Car were complete stock from the factory. The driver of the Forte was a good friend and good driver Jason Wilberding who drove the car to the limits and attaining 2nd place against fully modified Velosters that were fitted with intercoolers, coil-overs, and many other mods giving them the advantage. However, the Forte was just one second short of winning 1st place which is a feat considering the car only had our added bracing and torsion bar. We talked with Jason regarding his experience in our Forte and he said, "I'm very impressed with this car, i've driven many race cars, and higher dollar cars and I can say for the price and amount of car your getting the Forte is a pretty good car." I drive my Porsche Boxster S around the track and the handling on the Forte is close that at a fraction of the cost."
Overall the Forte and Veloster have a lot in common with each other, however we did notice the Forte was better aerodynamically designed which helped reduce drag and get up to speed quicker. Both are great cars in their own respect and we look forward to playing against more Velosters in the future. Lastly We established our Kia presence by taking 3rd place in our B-Spec Kia Rio, although we were in a horsepower track which is AAA Speedway in Fontana CA, the Evilla Motorsports B-Spec Kia Rio managed to out handle a lot of the competition.
