In addtion, does anyone have any advice on painting the cover? Will it be so hot that I need special paint? It looks like everybody and their brother's done this already over at the Veloster forums...

Engine enamel to handle the heat..... But please don't..... Please...
I have seen a lot of VT guys do it and doesn't look bad as long as it's done right
I painted my CAI and my engine cover a teal to match my teal accent theme I have going on. I used Engine Enamel. Probably took 2-3 coats.

That looks pretty killer!
Thanks dude. Thinking one of these days I'm going to paint the vents.
My thought is to just mask off the silver middle and paint the dark grey area racing red. I'll leave the chrome letters as well. Maybe I'll get frisky and tint the "vents" a different shade of racing red. :D

I think that would look pretty good. You should go for it or photoshop it to see what it would look like first

I've been trying to decide if I want to paint my engine cover or remove it so I am very interested to see what you come up with. I say go for it! You should paint some washers and do engine dress up bolts as well.

I am probably going to paint my valve cover since I don't have the engine cover on. I like to see my motor and not plastic covering it

So is the engine cover just for sound then? No heatshielding involved? If that's the case I'll probably just take it off.

The engine cover is primarily for sound - it clicks and pops LOT!
