Hi,

Has anyone been looking into an aftermarket unit for their cars? I am somewhat glad I got the SX with manual which only came with the small 3" display but I'm now thinking it's time to upgrade my head unit to something of a standard size and I've been wanting to get back to Android ecosystem. The finicky nature of UVO has meant that I use it less and less these days but with Android Auto, there's no better time to upgrade to something a little more nicer.

I'm interested in what you guys think of the aftermarket support for Android Auto. CarPlay has been surprisingly very slow in their adoption. I heard that the Kia Soul in 2016 MY will start having Android Auto so may be it's possible to go into Kia and have them install an OEM unit for the OEM look. I'm not adverse to the aftermarket route and could prove to be cheaper as well since i"m also considering upgrading the speakers and adding a slim profile sub.

Let me know what you guys think about Android Auto and whether there are better options out there.

Much easier on the forte than on the optima. Optima has to be interfaced with the amp which controls all except for source. Fader, balance, etc all through the amp. And from what I have read the are over 8 speakers, more like 12 and over 11 channels on the app with the sub being and utilizing both voice coils. So uhm yeah.

I'm my forte i will keep the audio as is for now, i have the nav and it works well and sounds decent.

All that being said, another rain to wait is rumors of Android auto being wireless in the future. So we will see.

Currently no HU allows BT syncing? I can't imagine that to be the case.

I came across where a guy put a nexxus 7 in the dash of a civic.

There's a magnetic tray and wireless charger too. Looked pretty cool.

Only thing that intrigued me was how to get the speakers hooked up.
