Added the Intercooler Resonator Delete Pipe

So I bit the bullet and ordered the Intercooler Resonator Delete pipe for the Velosters. Honestly, I don't know if I can tell a difference or not but that factory resonator is restricting for sure.

Should help with future mods! How much did it cost? From the pictures it looks like an easy swap. How long did it take to install?
It's a 5 min install tops. Might take you longer to get the car up in the air :)

So you didn't really feel a difference?
It was $25 shipped. and yes literally took just a few minutes to do.

And yea I don't know if I feel a difference or not. Although im not sure what I should be really noticing. Im assuming better flow off the turbo
Did you take a better picture of the inside of the pipe? I haven't gotten my car back from the dealer yet and this is one of the first mods I'd like to offer.

In general, when you remove a restriction from the system, you make your system more efficient.
That resonator (I'm assuming) is to reduce noise for the average consumer. It either has something in the flow path to reduce noise, or the actual shape (if nothing in flow path) will affect resonance.

For guys like you and me, we want more power, so that section of pipe should be free of restriction or nice and straight if at first oddly shaped.
Depending on the severity of that restriction, there will be a certain amount of pressure drop.
Without gauges or a way to measure it, I can't tell you what it is. My guess it's minimal, maybe 1-2 psi at most.

When the time comes, I plan on having a tool to datalog ECU parameters, and I will do a before and after on this mod, to see what it produces.
I do foresee a measurable difference, and I can;t wait to find out what it is!

TL;DR
You should feel something, if not, then the gain is there just not enough for the butt-dyno!

Veloster owners say they notice a good difference in the mid to upper end. No difference below that. Give it some stick and see how it feels.
I've read about these on the VT forums before....I seen a dyne graph that someone posted, not sure where from but it showed a 10-13whp gain from this? I'm not sure how.
I've also read about the loss of low end torque, but hits good around 3500 RPM. Others say that they didn't feel a loss. Only thing holding me back from this is the possibility to lose that torque. :/ any more opinions?
@6thelementengineering what do you think...worth or not?
I think it was Nate at Turbosocks saying what you quoted. The torque loss was minimal and you'll get a shitload more back with a SRI/CAI, FMIC and a tune. I don't see why we wouldn't get what they get out of the VT.

That gain seems high. I don't see how this would result in any TQ loss, as I understand it eliminating the pressure drop would increase boost pressure, which would increase TQ and HP.
I have a datalogging device on the way, and hopefully my car is back from the dealer soon so I can attempt proper testing.

Ultimately yes I think this mod is a must, considering the cost. Dollar to benefit ratio is good, and I hope to confirm this with data. I will also dyno my car before and after to help confirm what it does.

It does sound high. I'd be stoked with 6-8.
One important thing is that if we are looking for more power we need a bigger FMIC as VT owners have had issues with losing a lot of power due to the intercooler not doing a great job since it's so small...

Fact is : our FMIC is too small and it's a ''needed mod'' to anyone that wants more power....

Correct me here if i'm wrong but that's what I read on the VT forums ...
Our intercooler will flow enough air needed for a certain amount of power. What that is, I have not actually seen yet. I need to read VT Forums a little more.

Estimating the total volume of space the intercooler provides and lead us to a rough estimate of the CFM flow it is capable of. There are numerous CFM to HP calculators out there that will then lead us to the peak HP #'s our intercooler would be able to make.
This is another thing I would like to document once I have my car and I can develop a FMIC kit or a better factory replacement intercooler.

In all honesty, a nicer factory replacement would suit most people (coming from a cost standpoint). FMIC is obviously better (if designed right) and is great also the coolness factor is there too :)

So i'm assuming you'll be making an intercooler eventually ? Wich parts are you gonna focus on now that you got your car back ?

In no particular order:

intake
additional air signal plate (to get proper air signal for boost gauge or BOV)
aftermarket BOV adapter options
and the part listed in this thread

Sorry to threadjack OP :p
After driving the car more and more after I put this one, it does seem like the 3k-4k pull is much stronger. Yes, the money factor for this mod is a no brainer.
Where is it located exactly ? At the bottom of the intercooler ? So accessible only by going under the car ?
This part is located in the "hot side" pipe that runs underneath the engine. And by that I mean the piping between the compressor outlet of the turbocharger and the inlet of the intercooler.

It is located in this pipe, just to the left of the "A" leader in this diagram.

Gotcha now ....thanks for the diagram ! Do you plan on selling the resonator delete pipe ? If not i'll order one from turbosocks....I mean I rather encourage the forums vendor first ...you know ! :p
Of course!

I plan on looking at all that today. I'd like to offer the same thing or better (not sure what I can do to make it better) for the same price (or cheaper).
I'll know more as this weekend goes along.

I'm not sure how soon you want the mod, but for me to get something for sale, it will be a week or two. If you're in a rush, I won't be offended.

I really appreciate the support :)

Not in a rush at all...i'll wait till you figure what you can do ! I will order couple parts as soon as they will be designed/made...I told myself i would keep it stock when i first bought it and you see where i'm at already ? Lol....

Just please keep us updated !
