Here are some pictures of my first prototype. I am quite happy with the layout.

Right now, i have a shorter filter in there, and I have a much longer Spectre Filter that will be here next week. I need to get the biggest filter I can in there and I might have to make a slight pipe adjustment to make that fit behind the fog light.

My next steps are:

- Add small pipe for the valve cover breather line
- Add mounting location and develop mounting bracket
- Finalize filter choice
- Datalog each setup - stock, SRI, CAI

Also, I might add a port for recirculating the BOV, but that will be on a strictly custom order basis.
It will drive the cost up, and in all honesty i don't think it's necessary because:

a. we have a MAP sensor so there are no side effects to venting the valve to atmosphere
b. the volume of the BOV sound will not be much quieter (if sound is a concern for you), you will definitely still hear the BOV
c. I can save at least $20 in the cost of making that part of the intake

The final pipes will be powdercoated or anodized (colors TBD) and couplers will be kept black for now, unless I can get a minimum of 5 orders for a certain color.

Thanks and hope you guys like what you see so far!

Liking it and looks to have no real clearance issues. Only problem for me is water here in Central Florida seems to sit on the road a lot and sometimes deep. I will have to keep my filter up near factory location. (not uncommon during a storm to hit 3-4" deep water across the road)
I used to live in Orlando and I have family in Deland, I know your pain. I'll be making a short ram version too, and hopefully the performance of that isn't too far behind this one.

I had a deep intake like this on my last car, and have driven through deep puddles only when i had no where else to go. As long as you slowly idle through them, you shouldn't digest any water.

Good call, need to make an A/T version. I knew the A/T was bulkier but i haven't seen it yet. Looks like i need to get a car in front of me to make a version for that!

Or I might just make a nice SRI that works for both transmissions. I will be making that soon too

If the OD is droppde to 3.25", you should be able to stick it through there, no?

While I was under my hood checking filter to make sure it was still secure I noticed something after looking at the pictures of the intake on your car, you have a M/T and a whole lot more clearance than I do with a A/T. I would need to relocate my intercooler to fit your intake, I included some pics to show the room we have. The only way to get in that area behind the fog light would be by moving the wiring harness and going over the top of the frame rail.

wouldnt it be more direct and probably swap between the a/t and m/t better if you went at an angle above the frame rail like the veloster turbo intakes?

I may have to go this route. I chose not to in the beginning, because the way the filter sits above the fog light is not to my liking, but it is completely functional. I will be building that version this weekend.

Thanks for the info on that injen. What size is the pipe on that intake?

I will be making a version that goes over the frame rail to see how that comes out. I'd like to make one kit that works with both transmissions, that way when I make a FMIC kit, we don't have to have a customer get a different intake.

UPDATE:

So, after seeing @itsjustme 's dimensions of his A/T, I took some time to make a new intake that takes the traditional path over the frame rail.

I am happy to say I like this setup a lot better, and should be easier for everyone to install.

The Spectre filter I have in there is over 10" tall and fits cleanly behind the fog light in front of the wheel well.
IAT's are staying the same, as well as sound.

This week I will be finishing a mounting bracket and the connection for the valve cover breather line. I hope to have a finished product posted next weekend and then take some pre-orders.

Don't suppose you're going to make that upper set of pipes a one-piece are you? I had the look with the coupler on top of everything...

I am really thinking about it. Only thing that is making me hesitant is the price of a weld vs the price of a coupler. A weld will be more expensive. I'm trying my hardest to keep MSRP of this thing under $180. A welded joint will definitely bring it closer to that price.

I am heavily evaluating this so you will see when I unveil the final product :)

UPDATE:

Welding and jigs for the system pieces are complete. I will be making a couple more "test" kits to make sure the jigs are true. Last thing to do is design a mounting bracket.
If this what you guys were hoping for? If so, cost of this weld and the bung for the vac nipple will not be as bad as i thought.

Also bear in mind this is NOT a final product. Finishing will be done by powdercoat. Ignore the dirty pipes and my half-assed pictures
