I haven't had a issue with my UVO Nav system yet. It connects my phone perfectly and my iPod. I did though change my speakers to infinity because the stocks sucked lol. I would like the Android setup for sure. Would be killer to display my phone on the dash.

I agree, although mine doesn't have UVO. Wish it was apple play / android ready.

Forte5,

Did you notice a significant improvement by replacing the speakers? Normally its the deck that's the limiting factor.

Just a $200 deck brought the stock speakers to life in my Mazda but since the car is so new I'm not looking to upgrade so soon.

I would however upgrade the speakers if the difference is noticeable.

I have had the same experience when changing the radio. Not going to happen in this car since it came with the Nav unit lol.

I would say it really depends on how everything is setup and the speakers your looking at. I am sure it would sound way better with a good radio. Mine made a big difference in the mids and highs and had the sub do the work for the bass

Very unlikely on being able to do a software update. I've very nearly bought the Golf a few times but it really isn't worth the upgrade in price for me. Which is why I just went with an aftermarket unit that has all those features. That and the golf wouldn't work with my Note 4 when trying to use android auto. :p

While we are talking about the stock radio, has anybody had any issues with theirs? Mine will randomly start having issues with streaming audio via bluetooth, (Won't be able to skip a song from the car, or the phone, One time the radio actually froze, and I had to press reset. The other issue I've noticed is that sometimes the radio will no output to the rear speakers. All I have to do is go into the fader options, and fade the audio rear 1, and then change it back and it iwll work fine, almost as if if forgot about the rear speakers and you have to go and remind them.

I very nearly bought a Golf myself. Had it down to $16,750 for a 2 door so it was actually the cheaper option than my SX at $17,9. But the F5 had a lot more features and the 4 doors and double the warranty.

There are a few excellent radio stations here in the Portland area so I haven't been streaming music much between that and the XM trial. But I do have the phone connected for the Waze alerts and I have noticed that sometimes they don't pop over the audio. Which probably is the same problem of Bluetooth having a hiccup.

I do usually put an aftermarket head unit in my cars. Don't think I would miss the UVO features if I do that eventually.

Twice now mine has freaked out while listening to regular radio and made a pop sound as if someone had unplugged a cable then a few seconds later it would just start working again

My radio used to randomly black out and I'd have to reset it or just be lazy and wait for it to start randomly working again. Still worked, just no display. Haven't had issues streaming anything.
Mine has also done both of these once.

TIL These stock radios aren't very good.

Which radio do you guys have? I have the the UVO without NAV

Yeah I was looking at the base 4 door Golf but I hear they are expensive to maintain especially after the warranty ends. Why must they not offer Android Auto when the Optima has it? I'll probably end up buying an aftermarket head unit.
