6th Element Engineering Shifter Bushings Interest thread!

Not sure if any of you saw the site yet or not, but I have this product listed already as development is nearly complete.

Here is a photo of my 3D printed prototypes. I will be fitting these and finalizing the design tomorrow.

The shifter in the manual transmission is bolted to the chassis with rubber bushings. These rubber bushings will deflect when under pressure. While they are pretty stiff already, we can replace them with something better, and more rigid.

The new bushings will be billet 6061-T6 aluminum and be a direct replacement for the factory rubber ones. If any of you have gotten these before for other cars you have experience they do make a nice difference in shift feel.

Let me know if you guys have any questions, and thanks for the support!

I got the delrin set that is sold on ebay for the veloster turbo.

I like the "no bounce back" feel in the shifter. when I get home from work I gonna shave down the main washer though, it was alittle too thick in OEM form and I just need to shave it alittle.

I was alittle taken back for delrin vs the brass ones... I went with delrin for now, I mean if delrin can be used as the material that's used on an m16's stock, then it should be good enough for shifting.

Nothing wrong with Delrin, we would just have to compare the Delrin's material properties compared to brass. Depending on the Delrin, it just wouldn't last as long as brass would.
I will be designing those soon too, and I can compare materials and their costs.

In an update, I have finalized the shifter bushing design and will make another update when I have functional billet aluminum prototypes I cant take for a test drive.

    Stay tuned!

Can't say I'd buy the bushings until I could swap to a short shifter in the same install...

You do not remove the shifter when replacing these bushings. It literally takes about 15 minutes to swap these things. I'll upload pictures later this evening.

Here are some pics of how the busing is installed. New on the left, stock on the right.

As with all of my products, these will be accompanied by full color installation instructions so there won't be any confusion.

I am going to intro price these for forums members at a shipped price of $22. Normal price will be $25.

The bushing itself will be anodized black after they are machined. These will be done next week.
