Coilovers.... To be, or not t be? That, is the question

My oh my, where to start... Well for the past couple weeks i have been utilizing a lot of my spare time at the shop to figure out our situation regarding getting some form of suspension available for the Forte. I have spent many hours researching part numbers from numerous vehicles from hyundai/kia, cross referencing them to our Forte. It all started out when i crossed the part number for each individual part that makes our Front Strut assembly i.e Strut/Strut mount/Spring and i also included the knuckle/hub assembly, since this is where the strut bolts to.

So, the knuckle/hub and the strut mount are the same part number from every forte including ours, from 2010 to 2015. This is a good start!! The only difference between them was different part numbers for the strut and spring for the platform trims . Lx - which has base suspension Ex- which shares the same as the lx SX- sport suspension. Since valving and spring rates are different, therefore different part numbers.. Follow me so far? good
Ok so now for the test. Does the 2010-2013 ( first gen forte) suspension fit ours. I pulled in a 2012 forte EX off of the lot and proceeded to swap the LF strut assembly from the 12. and the results!!!!!!

IT DIDNT FIT!!! WHAT THE WHAT!!!! nooooooo!!!!!!!! But i thought the part numbers crossed over? Give it up to Kia being lazy and not updating the parts files to the correct part numbers for the new forte, and just copy and pasting the previous files over to correlate with the first gen.. Good thing is, in the mean time i confirmed that the rear fits perfectly, so thats a start. Well that through a big damper on that day, but i wasn't giving up yet! I took the front suspension from both My and the 12 forte and made a whole bunch of measurements to see where the issue was
here are the two major differences
    1. The strut mount- the spacing for the bolts that go up through the strut tower are different in comparison. The 12 is slightly smaller, there for it will not fit
    2. Sway bar link location- the Sway bar link on our Forte is exactly 11.5 inches, and the 12 is exactly 1.5 inches shorter. Therefor the flange that hold the mount for the sway bar sits lower on the strut assmbly
Besides that, everything else is the same.

So on with my investigation. over the course of the next week or so i proceeded to look at every vehicle part number for the front and rear suspension from 2010 to current from both Kia and Hyundia, and i couldn't find one match. I even called Hyundai with a full list of out front suspension part numbers and had them cross is over to see if it showed in there Parts log. The only thing that matches is the front sway bar links. Well at least its something right? Ok so what to do now, i know. CALL TORK!!!
So over the course of the next couple days up to exacatly a few ours ago, i have been working with @[email protected] on sharing measurements from our front strut assembly to see if anything on the Veloster can be used for the.
WE have some positive results from this. The Veloster Strut mount has the exact measurements as our Forte!!!

What does this mean? well here is the good news
    This is what we need:
    12 forte strut assembly
    Veloster Strut mount
12 Forte sway bar link (makes up for most if the difference in link location height) or a custom sway bar link
And wallah!!! WE have a setup that will work
But how do we get this?
We have contacted BC racing, who if you don't know, is one of the biggest and most popular and if not the best coilover company you could ask for (This is my opinion but is also backed by a large portion of the tuner world) We have let them in on all of my research, and this was there reply

WE need 15 people to have them start making an option of coils for our Forte. Yes 15... that is not a lot so we should be thankful it isn't more
What we need to do is Flood them with phone calls. Everyone who is interested in being a part of making this happen needs to have a voice and reach out to them to let them know!!
This can be accomplished very easily!! I do not have info on the exact setup we can expect. But from what i can put together and comparing to what they offer for other platforms. it can be easily put together that we will be offered the BC Racing BR-type coilover system. This is there most common setup that is offered and everyone runs. Here is a link so you can see for yourself Pricing is not set in stone. But you can easily compare to what is offered now for other platforms. You can bank on 950-1050 Depending on what we come up with. I will make sure to ask the next time we speak and update accordingly
BR Type | BC Racing North America

I also am going to find threads that consist of reviews for these coils for everyone can see for themselves how popular these actually are
I will update as soon as i can put together a few links, but you can do a little good searching yourself and you will find very quickly for yourself what i say is true.
I ran these coils on my 07 civic. The reason why i picked them is because they were the only coil i could slam really low and still have the comfort of a smooth ride. The ability to adjust the dampening to your liking is a great feature and goes a long way!!

So for now, this is what i need from you, my fellow Forte owners.
If you are interested in getting these coils out to use and the general public, please let me know!! WE can make this happen!! WE just need cooperation from everyone who wants to get a great suspension setup for there Forte, and we will be there in no time
I am going to start a list that will include everyone who would be interested in this. I will start with my name. To get your name added to the list. Please comment below and i will add you to the list.
I am not going to give my opinion for my reason why to choose coils. I feel like it should be a topic of conversation in this thread for everyone to talk about.
I will update this thread as much as i can per when i get new info either from BC, or from more research on my part
    Lets make this happen!!!!

That is great news, I wish I had the funds for these, my guess they would be around $1000 or more? But yes BC are very well known company. Do you know if there is any springs that match ours? I know there is a thread on here or forteforums of a guy who tried installing 11-13 eibach sportlines in his 14 and rear fit good but front did not, not sure what the issue was. But I think Kia told eibach that they are the same suspension....

Yes i actually updated the pricing but it just guess. And its a very good guess because they are know for being generally 1 price for every platform. I can tell you from all my research and basic general knowledge there no springs currently that will work for the Forte. What happens is that when a new Generation of platform comes to like The Forte, is is assumed by companies like Eibach that they will be compatible. This is only true when the platform is just cleaned up for a new look and not remodeled. When i vehicle is remodeled, even though general most of the parts may looks the same, most of the time they are different in many ways. I personally experienced this with the Optima and now the Forte with Eibach. They said the 2010 Optima would be compatible and they were not

Ive heard of BC coild overs but never researched them that much, I just read the link you provided and if pricing is around 950-1050, that is a very good deal for what you get. pillow ball mounts, front chamber plates, and the actual strut housings are adjustable, cheap coil overs just have one way to adjust the height and it affects the preload on the the springs, with these you can adjust the ride height and with out affecting the springs. Not sure if I worded that right but I've seen coil overs similar to this set up go for 1500+ for other cars.

    Yes this is correct
This style coilover they offer has a general price depending on where you go.. Ranging from 950-1050
That goes for every platform .
They makes coils for a lot of brands, even found out they make them for an Srt Jeep yesterday

These coils are you best bang for your buck
There are many cheaper coil brands, I'm not going to go naming there for the sake of not bashing other companies. But a little research goes a long way. You get what you pay for. And as far are these coils are concerned these are the way to go.

That is the benefit of purchasing a quality coilover setup
Full customization. You can choose are large range in ride height without changing the spring rate.
32 way dampening adjustment by the click of a knob
Even Custom spring rates that can be changed at the time or your order!!
