Probably won't work since the Forte changed in 2014. I believe the veloster shifter works in our car though? Maybe some other members can confirm this?

I have a cosmo short shifter for a veloster in my car.

It says 6spd but the tranny may be different because the forte sx of the previous years had a 2.4 liter not the 1.6 we share with the veloster

I've always wondered, why do so many people do the short shifter? I've had them in other cars I bought (didn't install myself), and the cars that came with them didn't seem to need them. In my experience, it made the shift throws TOO short and really notchy. So, @honhon, why did you do the short shifter?

Me personally I like the shorter throw when I am playing around or racing. It also gives me better feedback for making sure I am going in the right gear.

to me, it took out some of the clumsy feeling in the shifter... shifters in manual cars now a days are made purely for comfort.

rubber bushings on the cable ends, rubber bushings in the mount itself, parts of the shifter made out of vibration absorbent plastic... this all combined makes a dull clunky feeling.

if you eliminate these parts of "comfort" vibration absorption then you will receive a more direct solid feeling when shifting.

the only issue i have with my cosmo shifter is the reverse lockout is metal on metal contact with the shifter shaft itself, so it makes a clink noise when shifting with speed.

no big deal really, either deal with it or do a reverse lockout delete, which i am still debating

hon, this is the main point of the posting.

Modern "comfort" has overcome all else. I want to feel some feedback through the shifter.

I have seen some threads replacing the shifter bushing, and it would make sense to do the "all in one" install.

i might start with some base bushings and go from there. Thanks!

only thing i have debated after the fact is maybe a taller shift knob, with age i am wanting the shifter closer to the steering wheel
