What is this? Its floating freely in my engine bay and is connected to nothing which got me worried.

    Thanks,

    Charles

I don't think that is stock. My guess would be that a previous owner had an upgraded audio system and they took the amp/sub/whatever and left the power cable.
Does it run through the firewall?

Yes the previous owner had an audio system and there is a lot of cable in the trunk.

So its the power cable directly connected to battery for the audio system um...

Is there any risk of shortage or anything if I leave it there?

It doesn't look like its hitting the positive terminal and even if it was, its insulated.
So it should be an issue. However, I would probably try and find a way to tuck it neatly out of sight where it wasn't running across the battery.

Yes still an oem battery and the car has 5 years and 4 months with 90 000 km (2014 car)

But now I get low voltage code so its time to change before winter!

    Low voltage?
I have never seen that one except the low battery in the key fob warning.

Get the cable connected to the frame. Just ground it.
Or remove it completely if you are not interested in getting upgraded audio.

Think it was this code. They say my battery take only 30% of original charge or something and it needed to be changed before winter (sometime its -35 Celsius here)

    Oh, I see.
I somehow missed it was the CEL...

Well, if the previous owner had a powerful audio system (the thick cable might be good evidence of it), there is a high chance the battery experienced more wear.
Did you check its capacity with any meter? Was it ever fully charged by any charger?

5 years sounds about right to be replaced, though.
But if you got the car not long time ago there is a chance the battery was quite discharged because the car was sitting for a while on the lot.
