Thinking of actually doing a 300WHP build that will be a little more explosion proof using a 1.6 which will cost less than the other 2 options.

Also having the transmission specialist at the dealer pull all the specs for internal components for all 6 spd A/T to see if any of the stronger components can be used. If not I might need to invest in some custom trans internals.

Still expecting to spend $6500-7000 to complete (would be more but I already have all external mods).

Would producing power higher up be easier on the transmission? A boat load of torque down low can tear apart a lot of stuff but once the car is moving it will be easier on it... right?

Just an update, yes I still have the car and it is still under construction. Purchasing a home and doing a complete renovation over
the last 2 years has soaked up all extra funds I have plus some I didn't and has even caused me to sell off the engine and trans for the mid-engine
setup. House is expected to be completed soon then starting on the changes in the shop to accommodate a lift and an addition on the back for a engine
building/clean room. Hoping to have everything completed by the start of the new year so I can get back to work on the car (funds permitting).

Your last update was over 3 years ago. lol.
Glad to hear that you have hopes to continue your build!

You may already be aware, but there's a newer site since 3 years ago that sells a lot of KDM parts including a rebuild kit. https://kdmtuners.com/product/kdm-tu...ine-build-kit/
    $2,400. No block though.
Plus $1,600 for their stuffed ko3 and you might be sitting pretty. https://kdmtuners.com/product/ko3-upgraded-turbo/

I bet if you get a hold of him and let him know what you've got going on he could probably help you source a block too.
